Skincare ingredient FAQ

In what order do I apply skincare?

Cleanse, then apply thinnest to thickest: toner/essence, water-based serums (e.g. hyaluronic acid, vitamin C), treatments, then moisturizer, and SPF last in the morning. At night, retinol goes after cleansing and before moisturizer.

Which ingredients shouldn't be mixed?

Strong exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA) and retinol can over-irritate when layered, and vitamin C is often used in the morning while retinol is used at night. When in doubt, alternate nights and always patch test.

What ingredients are best for sensitive skin?

Look for ceramides, centella (cica), squalane, niacinamide and bakuchiol — they hydrate and calm without harsh exfoliation. Introduce one new active at a time.

Do I need SPF with these ingredients?

Yes — daily broadband SPF is the single most important step, and it's essential when using exfoliating acids, vitamin C or retinol, which can increase sun sensitivity.
